Elmer Luke was editing general fiction and non-fiction in New York when, on a lark, he accepted a position in Tokyo. That opened up what has become a specialty for him – editing translations of contemporary Japanese literature. He has worked with many authors and translators, written and reviewed, is co-editor with David Karashima of the anthology March Was Made of Yarn, and is a consulting editor of Granta 127: Japan.
